Brushing with Braces

Brush your teeth for at least 2 minutes in the morning, nighttime, and after every meal with the soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. A manual or powered electric toothbrush will both work! Brush your chewing surfaces and the front and back of all your teeth in small, circular motion. Make sure to brush your gums too by angling the toothbrush 45-degree towards your gum line.

Flossing and Waterpik® with Braces

Flossing is just as important as brushing when it comes to keeping your teeth and mouth clean! We recommend flossing after every meal to make sure you don’t get cavities or puffy irritated gums during your orthodontic treatment. To floss with braces, we will supply you with floss threader and floss, so that you can easily clean in between your teeth. You can also try proxy brushes to clean your teeth and braces. In addition to flossing, you may want to use a Waterpik®, which is an electric water floss, to clean in between your braces and wires and any appliances you may have in your mouth.
